About Dr. Jones

Dr. Martha R. Jones devoted her professional life to research in nutrition and the prevention and treatment of diseases. After teaching nutrition at Yale University and as a nutrition research specialist at the University of California Medical School, Dr. Jones established a nutritional clinic on a plantation in Hawaii. There she spent six years of service, caring at first for one malnourished baby, and eventually for 500 pre-school children. Her clinic gained national and international attention.

Dr. Jones received a B.S. and an M.A. from Peabody College, spent three years of study at Vanderbilt University, and received a Ph.D. from Yale University. She resided in Wilmore, Kentucky for the last ten years of her life.

In 1961, Dr. Martha R. Jones established a Trust Fund at Asbury Theological Seminary (ATS) that ultimately led to the formation of the Martha R. Jones Foundation for Health Education, Inc.
